Myanmar development workers meet Thai NGOs
Seminar “Cultural Dimension and Community Development”
Venue: Hong Hean Seep Sann Lanna School
October 28, 2008, 9.00 – 17.00

The Community Development and Civic Empowerment Program (CDCE), a three month training program held at Chiang Mai University, is currently hosting 32 participants from Myanmar. These participants represent workers and volunteers from various local and interntiaonal NGOs and community based organizations who are working in their country for community development.

The seminar entitled “Cultural Dimension and Community Development” is organized under the coordination of the CDCE program and the Regional Centre for Social Sciences and Sustainable Development (RSCD), Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University. The seminar includes community visits and an open discussion among Myanmar and Thai NGOs workers. This seminar aims to enhance community development knowledge of the seminar participants and to facilitate the sharing of experiences between Northern Thai communities and Myanmar development workers for the betterment of social work in both countries.

Objectives

1. To learn the tools of the cultural dimension and development process in Thai communities.
2. To share community development knowledge and experiences among Northern Thai communities and Myanmar development workers
3. To strengthen the partnership among Northern Thai NGOs and Myanmar development workers

Morning Session : Divide the participants into 3 groups

Group 1: PLHA and the holistic health care system
